At Pinto Valley Copper Mines, Barrier shines bright.

Tank Corrosion Lining

PINTO VALLEY COPPER MINES

THE CHALLENGE

Copper mines use large aeration tanks to process sulfide ore into concentrated copper. The tanks at Pinto Valley Mine had become badly rusted during dormancy, so when the operation came back online, Barrier was called upon to clean and re-line the tanks.

THE PROCESS

  • Jet-washed existing substrate
  • Large rust areas abraded by hand
  • Applied 80 mils PermaDri liquid membrane to entire tank surface
  • Went through intense 2 day mine safety training

THE RESULT

Barrier partnered with the manufacturer of PermaDri – a waterproof coating designed for commercial use – and applied the product to the tanks using our proven spray application technologies and expertise. The tanks now perform like new.

“We worked with Barrier side-by-side on this project, and it was a great professional relationship. Over and over again on the mining site, the Barrier crew was seen as the most professional and had a lot of expertise. The client was impressed with their work, and how they got it done in a professional way and still done on time. Barrier put the right team of people on site to get the job done and make sure it exceeded the customer’s expectations.”
